Years ago I have been fascinated by Scottish jewellery accessories, mostly rings, brooches and trinkets. This mostly came from the fact that at that time I was into reading and watching European history and culture (mostly Scottish, English, and Irish). Even when I was engaged to be married, I checked on designer jewellery for potential designs for our very own wedding bands. I also wanted Scottish favors as gift ideas to all my guests. My fascination came back again because of my obsession with the TV series The Tudors. There may be small opportunities for exposure though, as the series was mainly set in England. Honestly I prefer the Celtic type of jewellery though!

Anyways, since it's summer, I am now back again to wearing boyfriend shorts and boyfriend jeans with my "peasant" blouses with the lightest fabric. It's a cruel summer here and the weather is as hot as ever. This however does not mean that we cannot be fashionable right? And so how else to accessorize my whole "modern peasant" look than by complementing my outfit with Scottish jewellery? A statement piece like a ring or a simple brooch or pendant will do, especially on very casual days. Yet even evening attire such as the little black dress can be accessorized with intricate necklaces or a simple chain with a unique and elegantly designed pendant to make the look more uniquely sophisticated.

I've known about the Hermes Birkin Bag for years and years and years (even before our dear country has ever paid that much attention to it), though at that time didn't think it would be something I'd want for myself. But hey, if there's one piece of luxury i would like to own (without having those guilt and all), then yes, it would be an Hermes Birkin in Orange. No other color. Just orange.

Now now. I didn't say I would get one. The closest to reality is my Aunt, who collects Birkin bags and happens to have the orange one. *Sigh*

While we love dudes who aren't afraid to sport the latest and greatest, there are a few staples that should absolutely, positively form the basis of every man's wardrobe, dandy or not. As perfect paired with of-the-moment get-ups as they are on their own, these totally timeless no-brainer pieces—from dark wash jeans to desert boots—can and should be worn again and again. Yes, it's easy for a fella to get sucked into the trends that cheap-chic factories like H&M and Topman churn out each season, but these closet classics will stick around longer than six months—and should have a place in every guy's permanent rotation.

1. The Classic Dark-Washed Jeans

There's nothing like a pair of great-fitting straight leg jeans, and dark wash never goes out of style. Truly indispensable, they can be dressed up or down, and get better with wear. Seriously, if you have a pair of jeans with any sort of kooky stitching or pocket designs, discard immediately.

2. The Desert Boots

Though the Clarks classics have laces, pull-on versions are an easy update, and let's face it, the less work the better. Whether in universal black or broken-in beige, suede or canvas, there's a version of these to suit every guy's style.

3. The Cashmere Pullover

Some dudes do V-necks, some don't. We'll admit, dabbling in neck "intricacies" can get you into trouble. But not with a classic cashmere crew. Whether in merino or a soft cashmere blend, it's a hard call The merino wool crewneck gets an upgrade in cashmere--a definite investment, but it'll add polish to any outfit.

Just kidding, hahaha! But I can just imagine my darling girl and I looking something like this when she grows up. In a way, Katie + Suri style is similar to V + E style, less the celebrity status of course, hahaha.

But yeah, I usually wear a shirt, bf jeans, and flats on my dress-down days, while darling girl wears leggings and a girly girl top. Oh, plus the bag. My daughter doesn't leave home without her bag and set of keys, hahaha.

Raoul Fashion Show by SSI

After millions of years, I finally got to attend a fashion show (oh wait, Fashion Week too this year, hahaha), and it's by SSI for the Singaporean brand RAOUL. At least it's one reason for me to wear a cocktail dress. Gash, I love it whenever there's a chance to glam up!!!

Anyway, we had wonderful cocktail food by the Peninsula and rounds of drinks (I downed a glass of champagne, and about 3 glasses of cosmos, hahahahaha!) before the show started.

Thank you BFF C for inviting me, because I love love love the clothes!!! The clothes have simple silhouettes but evoke this chic and glamorous aura.

I must check out the shop when I go to Greenbelt 5. Soon. Hahahaha.

This will be my inspiration for what I will wear during friend S's Boracay wedding this January 2010.

Premier Essence Powder Foundation
I must say I am in love with this powder. It closely mateches my skin color, and I really love how it makes my face look fresh all day. LOVE IT.

Eco Vert Starter Kit
I'm quite hesitant to try new skincare products, after not using anything save for my Olay eye cream for quite some time. And since I'm new to this shop, it was a really nice thing that they have this Eco vert starter kit. Eco Vert is their "organic" skin care line. I don't know if theere is a difference already, but I'm glad that these haven't done any damage to my skin yet. no breakouts whatsover. My skin felt smoother and more supple though. Love these too.

Shimmer Eyeliner
It's been a long time since I bought an eyeliner for myself, and I am sooo glad I did. I like this eyeliner, which has a little shimmer in it. My only concern is it's too soft, and i use up a lot even if my lines aren't that thick. Oh well. I still love it.

Herb Clear Lip and Eye Makeup Remover
Finally I bought a makeup remover. Well, because I bought an eyeliner hahahaha. I love the scent, and i love how delicate it is when I use it. Another good purchase.

Soul Secret Blossom Fragrance
I haven'tgotten this yet... yohooo dear sister, you've been stalling... when will you buy this for me? Hahahaha, it;s her really late birthday gift, and i personally requested for this. Can't wait to have it.

All in all, I am really pleased with the products I got, and I am looking forward to a deeper relationship with The Face Shop. Hahahaha!

This year i'm kinda over the skinny jean look, and have succumbed to the boyfriend jeans. At first I thought it will not suit me well, but I found a really good pair.

Aside from it being comfy (love wearing it even at home!), it gave new life to my big ol' snakeskin belt I got a long time ago. Hahahah. it's my favorite, but couldn't really wear them with those skinny jeans. Hahahaha.

Now I have to buy more casual tops to pair with my jeans... You know, the white linen types. then I'd wear my patent blue wedges. Love love love it.

The second pic: very comfy to wear but I don't know if the look suits me or my personality. Love it though that the black top is made of Organic cotton. Hope they make more clothes that are eco-friendly.

Well, at least in Marc Jacobs' S/S 09 Collection!

Strangely I like this collection... not too much bright colors and all. I believe that the colors of autumn still influenced the colors of the Spring/Summer collections, which, based on my last post, what I'm liking/loving! Plaid (I previously posted about this) is still "in" next year, so those investments are still good. I hope! There's not much splash of color, and if any, these were jewel toned colors - no pastel-y type, you know. Anyway, this collection... I really like... Kinda retro, kindly oriental, kinda modern, kinda everything. MJ is really a genius. Hehehehe.

Austere Dressing

My style right now is apparently evolving... For some reason, I'm now so into the neutrals. Like what Comme Des Garcons (and also Chuvaness' style mantra) "said"... no color, no jewelry, short nails, etc...

This for me is challenging to achieve. With neutrals - black, white, gray - you have to be more creative in the choices you make, else you'd look to Gothic. But then again, I'm not really into that baggy, hard-core CDG designs either. I still prefer streamlines silhouettes - though I'm putting on more weight, I can still be consdiered "slim" and those baggy stuff will just drown me and all. So, not too much baggy items for me. Nor the slinky ones too.

Which was why I totally dig Lanvin's Pre-Fall 2008 collection...

Maybe it's just because of the "season" right now. Autumn (or rainy season here in Pinas) just doesn't call for color, at least for me now. But hey, I'm kinda liking some of the S/S '09 collections (more on that later).

Anyway, that's my little style reflection today.
